Joanna is currently the independent lead reviewer for a case review using the Social Care Institute for Excellence “Learning Together”
model.
Her first book, commissioned by the Open University, entitled 'How to Conduct the Home Visit in Child Protection'
will be published in May, 2012. It is a practice guide for frontline workers and addresses the practicalities and potential difficulties
of visiting people's homes.
She is currently writing her second book, also commissioned by the Open University. This one is called
'How to Communicate with Children'.
She has also recently been commissioned to produce a training course addressing the
issues of neglect.

Alongside her Local Safeguarding Children Board, Joanna is
currently developing a two-day workshop for advanced practitioners working in child protection.
She is currently working
with the Social Work Reform Board, as a member of one of the reference groups.
