Joanna works closely with her Local Safeguarding Children Board developing and delivering child protection training and training around attending child protection conferences and core groups. Through her Local Safeguarding Children Board Joanna delivers multi-agency, as well as single agency training. Together they have recently developed a child protection training course to meet the needs of board / lead members with safeguarding responsibilities.
She also develops and delivers training in the private and voluntary sector.
Able to deliver courses around the specific categories of abuse, as well as current legislation and procedures, she has recently been commissioned to produce a training course addressing the issues of neglect. It is her view that professionals underestimate the impact of neglect, and there may be myths about the statement 'It is the hardest category of abuse to evidence in the court'. Joanna challenges that view.
Other recent courses she has developed include “Learning Lessons from Serious Case Reviews “ and “Child Protection
Processes, Chapter 5, Working Together to Safeguard Children, 2010.”
